Chapter 5 - The Bleeding Heart

Rain began to pour from the pitch-black sky as Aleandro’s armored SUV pulled up to the abandoned slaughterhouse.

The industrial building looked like a decaying metal skeleton in the storm.

Aleandro stepped out of the vehicle alone, his dark coat blowing in the wind.

He carried a leather briefcase in his left hand.

His right hand rested casually near the holster concealed under his jacket.

He kicked the rusted metal door open.

The smell of old blood and damp concrete filled his lungs.

Inside, three armed Lucchese thugs stood under a flickering fluorescent light.

In the center of the room, Isabella was tied tightly to a wooden chair.

Her beautiful face was bruised, and her lip was bleeding.

When she saw Aleandro, her eyes widened in absolute terror.

“Aleandro, no!” she screamed.

“They are going to kill you!”

Vincenzo stepped out from the shadows, pointing a silver revolver directly at Isabella’s head.

“Shut up, you stupid bitch,” Vincenzo spat.

He looked at Aleandro and smirked.

“I see you brought the briefcase.”

“Did you really think I would fall for your little trick on the microphone, Moretti?”

“We knew you were lying about attacking Queens.”

Aleandro did not flinch.

He simply set the briefcase on the dirty floor.

“I know you didn't fall for the microphone trick, Vincenzo.”

“Because the bug has been dead for hours.”

Vincenzo frowned, clearly confused.

“Then why did you say it?”

“Because while you were standing here trying to outsmart me, my men were quietly surrounding this building.”

The glass skylights above them suddenly shattered.
