Chapter 10 - The Promise of Tomorrow

Six weeks later, the bells of St. Patrick’s Cathedral rang loudly across the city.

The sky was a brilliant, clear blue, completely devoid of rain or dark clouds.

Aleandro stood at the altar, wearing a perfectly tailored black tuxedo.

His shoulder still ached slightly, but he stood tall and proud.

The massive church was filled with associates, politicians, and family members.

The doors opened, and the wedding march began to play softly.

Isabella walked down the aisle, looking absolutely breathtaking in a white lace gown.

Her smile was brighter than the diamonds around her neck.

As she reached the altar, Aleandro took her hands in his.

He looked into her eyes and saw no fear, no secrets, and no shadows.

He saw only the brilliant future of the Moretti family.

They exchanged their sacred vows, promising to protect each other in this life and the next.

When the priest finally declared them husband and wife, Aleandro kissed her deeply.

The entire cathedral erupted into loud, joyful applause.

Later that evening, during the lavish reception at the estate, Aleandro stepped onto the balcony.

He looked out over the sparkling lights of Brooklyn.

The waterfront was entirely his, unquestioned and heavily fortified.

Isabella slipped her arms around his waist from behind, resting her head against his back.

“What are you thinking about, my fierce Don?” she whispered lovingly.

Aleandro turned around and wrapped his good arm around his beautiful wife.

“I am thinking that time is finally on our side.”

Inside the study below them, the old wooden clock continued to tick softly.

It no longer recorded betrayals or hidden secrets.

It only measured the beautiful, endless seconds of their new life together.
