Chapter 4 - The Art of War

Aleandro did not call his lawyers to draft the property deeds.

Instead, he walked down to the heavily armored basement of his estate.

Marco was already there, organizing an arsenal of high-powered weaponry on a steel table.

“They want a trade at the slaughterhouse on 9th Street,” Aleandro said.

“It is a trap, Boss,” Marco replied without looking up from the rifle he was loading.

“I know it is a trap.”

“That is exactly why we are going to walk right into it.”

Aleandro selected a custom-fitted tactical vest and strapped it over his dress shirt.

He checked the chamber of his favorite matte-black pistol.

“Vincenzo thinks he holds all the cards because he has Isabella.”

“But he made a critical mistake.”

“He assumed I would panic and follow his rules.”

Aleandro pulled the dead listening device from his pocket.

“Marco, turn the bug back on.”

Marco looked confused but followed the order, pressing the tiny switch.

The little green eye began to blink once again.

Aleandro leaned close to the device and spoke clearly.

“Marco, gather the men.”

“We are going to hit the Lucchese stronghold in Queens.”

“We will burn their main headquarters to the ground tonight at eleven.”

“I don't care about the slaughterhouse.”

He clicked the device off again.

Marco smiled grimly, finally understanding the brilliant strategy.

Vincenzo’s men would hear that recording and panic.

They would pull their heaviest security away from the slaughterhouse to protect their main headquarters in Queens.

The slaughterhouse would be lightly defended.

Aleandro was not a businessman tonight.

He was the Don.
