Chapter 8 - The Hero's Reward

The next morning, the local news stations were completely swarming the property.
Helicopters circled overhead, trying to get a shot of the hero stallion.
The story of a horse stopping a cartel kidnapping had gone globally viral overnight.
Arthur politely declined every single interview request.
He wanted peace, not a massive media circus.
He walked out to the barn with his heavy bucket of sweet oats, just like every other morning.
The barn was severely damaged, with splintered wood and bullet holes decorating the walls.
But Titan was standing calmly in his stall, eagerly waiting for his breakfast.
Arthur slid the heavy door open and stepped inside.
This time, the stallion didn't shriek or rear up in a panic.
Instead, Titan let out a soft, joyful whinny.
He lowered his massive head and gently nudged Arthur’s chest.
Arthur wrapped his arms around the horse's thick neck, burying his face in the coarse black mane.
"I am so sorry I doubted you, big guy," Arthur whispered, tears welling in his eyes.
"You were just trying to be a protector."
Titan nickered softly, playfully nosing Arthur's pocket for a hidden sugar cube.
Later that afternoon, a luxury transport truck pulled up to the main gate.
It was a special delivery from Lily’s wealthy family in the city.
They had sent a massive supply of premium feed, fresh apples, and customized blankets.
Included was a handwritten note expressing their eternal, immeasurable gratitude.
Arthur smiled, watching Titan happily crunch on a crisp red apple.
