Chapter 7 - The Aftermath

Within an hour, the blaring sirens of state police cruisers finally flooded the valley.

Dozens of officers swarmed the property, securing the prisoners and assessing the damage.

Paramedics rushed Sheriff Miller to an ambulance to treat his gunshot wound.

Arthur slowly walked back into the house, his entire body trembling from the fading adrenaline.

He went straight to the cellar and gently moved the heavy crates.

Lily was still curled up in a tight ball, trembling violently.

"They're gone, sweetheart," Arthur whispered, picking her up effortlessly.

"You are completely safe now."

When he carried her out to the porch, a team of medics immediately surrounded them.

They checked her vitals, marveling at the fact that she was physically unharmed.

A detective approached Arthur, holding a clipboard and looking utterly bewildered.

"I’ve never seen anything like this in my thirty years on the force," the detective admitted.

"Your horse took down an entire cartel extraction team."

Arthur looked across the yard, where Titan was calmly grazing on a patch of sweet clover.

The stallion looked completely peaceful, as if the violent battle had never happened.

The farmhands were gently brushing the dust from his glossy black coat.

"He isn't just a horse," Arthur replied, a profound sense of pride swelling in his chest.

"He's family."

Later that evening, a frantic, tearful couple arrived at the ranch escorted by the FBI.

They were Lily’s parents, who had been living a complete nightmare for the past three days.
