Chapter 8 - The Trial

Six months later, we sat in the front row of the federal courthouse in downtown Atlanta.

Olivia sat at the defense table, looking pale, thin, and entirely stripped of her former glamour.

Her expensive defense attorney had tried to argue that she was a victim of a manipulative husband.

However, the prosecution’s case was entirely impenetrable.

The fake therapist had taken a plea deal and testified for three hours about how Olivia orchestrated the psychological abuse.

Sarah, who had spent the last six months in a luxury rehabilitation facility funded by me, took the stand next.

She bravely recounted every single threat and blackmail attempt Olivia had used to force her into the drug ring.

Then, the prosecution projected the financial ledgers from the silver flash drive onto the massive courtroom screen.

The jury watched in absolute disgust as Olivia’s multi-million dollar trafficking empire was laid bare.

When the prosecution rested, Olivia’s own father quietly stood up from the gallery and walked out, completely abandoning her.

The jury deliberated for less than two hours before returning to the silent courtroom.

The foreman stood up and read the verdict with a loud, unwavering voice.

“We find the defendant guilty on all counts.”
