Chapter 4 - Finding Sarah

I forced the fake therapist to give me the only address she had on file for Olivia’s secret associate.

It led me to a dilapidated motel on the outskirts of Atlanta.

I knocked on the peeling door of Room 114, praying I was not too late.

The door cracked open, and I found myself staring directly at the woman from the photograph.

Sarah looked frail, terrified, and violently ill.

“Are you Linda?” she croaked, her voice raspy and weak.

“Yes,” I said, stepping inside the dark, foul-smelling room.

Sarah collapsed onto the edge of the stained mattress, burying her face in her trembling hands.

“She told me Matthew was in trouble with loan sharks,” Sarah sobbed, completely breaking down.

“Olivia found me a year ago and said if I didn’t pick up the prescriptions, they would kill my son.”

My stomach churned at the sheer, unadulterated evil of Olivia’s manipulation.

She had weaponized a mother’s guilt and love to build a lucrative illegal drug ring.

“She sold the pills on the dark web,” Sarah continued, pointing to a duffel bag in the corner.

“She gave me a few hundred dollars to survive, but she kept all the millions in an offshore account.”

“I need you to come with me to the police, Sarah,” I told her gently, reaching out a hand.

“I can’t,” she panicked, backing away from me in sheer terror.

“Olivia said if I ever spoke to the cops, she would release altered footage showing Matthew giving me the drugs directly.”

Olivia had created the perfect, airtight frame job.

But she had vastly underestimated the absolute fury of a mother fighting for her son.
