Chapter 2 - Shifting the Power

While I was resting in the maternity ward, recovering with my beautiful son in my arms, a small army descended upon the estate Julian claimed he "funded."
First came the locksmiths. Under Evelyn’s direction, every deadbolt on the property was drilled out and replaced with high-security smart locks. Next came the movers. They systematically went through the master bedroom and Julian’s study. They packed it all into heavy cardboard boxes and stacked them neatly inside the garage.
Meanwhile, Evelyn’s forensic accountant was having a field day. Julian’s tech startup, Apex Solutions, was nothing but a hollow shell. He had been bleeding my family trust dry to pay off his silent investors and sustain his illusion of wealth.
I sat in my hospital bed, nursing Leo, watching the notifications roll in on my iPad. Joint Checking: Frozen. Platinum Credit Lines: Suspended. Startup Operating Account: Seized pending investigation.
