By the fourth day following the raid on Stonehaven, the story had inevitably leaked to the press. The combination of a high-society suburban family, a decorated Korean War veteran held hostage in a shed, and a high-ranking Defense Intelligence Commander daughter executing the raid was absolute gold for the 24-hour news cycle and social media algorithms.
When I arrived at the federal courthouse for the initial arraignment hearing, the plaza was swarming with dozens of television news crews, reporters, and aggressive paparazzi. A sea of microphones and cameras surged forward as my security detail cleared a path up the marble steps.
