Chapter 15 - The Monster in the Courtroom

The massive federal courtroom was completely packed to the absolute brim with aggressive reporters, curious onlookers, and Liam’s incredibly wealthy, arrogant family members.
My heart hammered violently against my ribs like a trapped bird as the heavy wooden doors swung open and the bailiff escorted me inside.
I kept my chin held incredibly high, strictly staring straight ahead at the massive wooden witness stand and completely ignoring the aggressive whispers from the gallery.
As I walked down the long center aisle, I completely felt the incredibly heavy, highly intense weight of Liam’s cold, dead eyes strictly tracking my movements.
He was sitting confidently at the defense table in a flawless, highly expensive tailored suit, looking entirely like a wealthy businessman rather than a violent abuser.
He offered me a tiny, incredibly chilling smirk, completely attempting to assert his psychological dominance over me right there in the open courtroom.
I absolutely refused to flinch or look away, strictly maintaining incredibly cold, entirely deadpan eye contact as I took the heavy oath to tell the truth.
The federal prosecutor gently began his questioning, slowly allowing me to perfectly establish the highly terrifying, incredibly violent timeline of my miserable marriage.
I spoke incredibly clearly and calmly about the burned pasta, the brutal slaps, the manipulative apologies, and the incredibly terrifying fear of his violent temper.
I could actively see the diverse jury leaning forward in their seats, completely engrossed and deeply horrified by the incredibly brutal details I calmly provided.
When I perfectly described finding the massive, two-million-dollar life insurance policy hidden in his desk, the entire packed courtroom let out a collective, highly audible gasp.
"He completely planned to violently murder me, and he absolutely wanted to get incredibly rich doing it," I stated firmly into the highly sensitive microphone.

Liam's incredibly expensive defense attorney aggressively objected, completely shouting that I was entirely speculating without a single shred of actual, physical proof.
But I completely knew that the absolute, highly undeniable proof was currently sitting securely in the prosecutor's heavy briefcase, waiting to be unleashed.
