Chapter 2 - The Counterattack Begins

The next morning, I woke up before the sun even considered rising.

I brewed a pot of incredibly strong coffee and booted up my main server.

My face bore a faint red mark, a physical reminder of the previous night's betrayal.

I immediately dialed my lead corporate attorney, Marcus.

Marcus was a shark in a tailored suit who loved destroying arrogant people.

I gave him a brief summary of the wedding incident and the demand for my penthouse.

He let out a low, dangerous laugh over the phone.

I told him I wanted a complete separation of all family assets immediately.

He promised to have a team of forensic accountants on it by noon.

As soon as I hung up, my building’s concierge buzzed my intercom.

He informed me that my parents were downstairs, demanding to be let up.

They had brought a notary public with them.

The sheer audacity of their plan actually made me smile.

They truly believed they could intimidate me into signing over a twenty-million-dollar property.

I instructed the concierge to tell them they were trespassing.

I also added that if they did not leave in five minutes, he should call the police.

I watched the security feed on my tablet as the concierge delivered the message.

My father’s face turned a violent shade of purple.

My mother started screaming at the poor front desk worker.

They eventually stormed out, but not before my father pointed a threatening finger at the camera.

They thought they were intimidating me.

Instead, they were just digging their own graves a little bit deeper.

I opened my laptop and began looking into a private investigator.

It was time to see what else my family was hiding.
