With David in federal prison, I focused entirely on my mother's recovery. Her collarbone healed perfectly, though the emotional scars took longer.

Through the civil courts, I successfully sued David’s shell companies and the corrupt notary agency Chloe worked for. The settlement was massive. We recovered every single dollar he had stolen, plus millions in punitive damages.

I didn't keep the colonial house. I sold it to a nice young couple, packed my bags, and bought a beautiful, sprawling, single-story ranch property right on the water in Virginia Beach.

I moved my mother in with me. We built her a greenhouse twice the size of her old one, filled with every exotic rose breed she had ever wanted.
