Chapter 6 - The Boardroom Coup

Friday morning arrived with heavy rain pouring over the city skyline.
Arthur stepped out of his sleek black town car and walked into the grand lobby of Richard’s corporate headquarters.
He did not stop at the security desk; he simply flashed his newly printed majority shareholder badge and walked straight to the executive elevator.
He rode up to the top floor and pushed open the double doors of the main boardroom without knocking.
Richard was sitting at the head of the massive mahogany table, sweating profusely as he argued with three panicked executives.
"Who let you in here?" Richard yelled, standing up abruptly as Arthur entered the room.
"I let myself in, Richard," Arthur replied, casually tossing his wet umbrella to a stunned assistant.
Arthur walked over to the table and dropped the massive stack of foreclosure and ownership documents right in front of his father.
"I am the silent investor who bought your debt, and as of 9:00 AM this morning, I own fifty-one percent of this entire operation."
Richard’s face drained of all color as his shaking hands sifted through the undeniable legal paperwork.
"You can't do this, I built this company from the ground up!" Richard choked out, holding onto the edge of the table for support.
"And you destroyed it with your arrogance and your incompetence," Arthur countered sharply.
"You are officially terminated as CEO, effective immediately."
The other executives in the room remained completely silent, knowing better than to side with a sinking ship.
"If you refuse to leave this building in the next ten minutes, I will have security drag you out just like they did at the anniversary party," Arthur warned.

Richard looked at his son, finally realizing that the boy he had thrown away had returned as a king.
Defeated and broken, Richard grabbed his briefcase and walked out of his own boardroom in complete disgrace.
