Chapter 4 - The Financial Collapse

The viral video did more than just humiliate Richard and Margaret on a global scale.
It caused a massive, catastrophic chain reaction in Richard’s already crumbling corporate life.
Richard was the CEO of a legacy logistics firm that had been bleeding money for the last five years.
He was desperately relying on the optics of the lavish anniversary party to convince foreign investors that his company was still highly profitable.
When those investors saw the video exposing his bankruptcy and his appalling moral character, they immediately pulled out.
At 10:00 AM on Monday, Richard’s stock prices plummeted by forty percent.
Arthur sat in his luxurious, high-rise corner office, watching the stock market ticker with a cold, satisfied smile.
His lead financial advisor, a sharp woman named Elena, walked into the office holding a thick leather folder.
"It's done, Arthur," Elena said, placing the heavy documents onto his glass desk.
"We have quietly purchased the majority of Richard's outstanding corporate debt through our holding companies."
"He owes you exactly twenty-two million dollars, and the loan officially defaults at the end of this week."
Arthur opened the folder, his eyes scanning the precise, deadly legal paperwork.
He had spent the last two years systematically buying up every single vulnerability in his father's business.
He had planned to wait a little longer, to slowly bleed his father dry over the next decade.
But after seeing Lily crying beneath that tray of glasses, Arthur decided to accelerate the timeline.

"Draft the foreclosure notices, Elena," Arthur ordered, signing his name boldly at the bottom of the page.
"I want the locks on his corporate headquarters changed by Friday morning."
