Weeks turned into a beautiful, peaceful spring.
Arthur underwent his final heart surgery, and the doctors declared it a massive success.
Clara moved her grandfather into a beautiful guest house on the Sterling estate.
She spent her days tending to the massive gardens, breathing in the fresh air.
Julian worked from home, refusing to leave her side for more than a few hours.
One afternoon, he found her sitting by the rose bushes, tracing the scar on her shoulder.
He gently pushed her hand away and kissed the jagged skin.
“Never hide this,” he murmured against her skin.
“It is the mark of my guardian angel.”
