Chapter 7 - The Ambush

The grand foyer of the Rossi estate turned into an absolute warzone within seconds.

Over a dozen heavily armed Romano soldiers poured through the shattered mahogany front doors.

Vincenzo dove behind a massive marble pillar just as a hail of automatic gunfire shredded the expensive artwork on the walls.

His remaining loyal men flooded in from the east wing, returning fire and turning the beautiful entrance into a slaughterhouse.

Every time Vincenzo pulled the trigger, another rival soldier dropped to the blood-stained floor.

He fought with the feral desperation of a man who finally had something worth living for.

He wasn't just defending his empire anymore; he was defending Clara and Elena.

Suddenly, a massive explosion rocked the west wing of the house, sending plaster and dust raining down from the ceiling.

"They breached the lower levels!" Leo shouted over the deafening noise of the gunfire.

Vincenzo's blood ran completely cold as pure terror gripped his soul.

The lower levels housed the safe room where Clara and Elena were hiding.

"Hold the line here!" Vincenzo commanded his men, sprinting away from the main firefight.

He flew down the basement stairs, his expensive shoes slipping slightly on the polished stone.

Two Romano thugs were trying to place a breaching charge on the reinforced steel door of the safe room.

Vincenzo didn't slow down; he shot the first man in the chest and tackled the second one to the ground.

They brawled fiercely on the cold concrete, trading brutal blows in the dim basement lighting.

The thug managed to pull a combat knife, slicing a deep gash across Vincenzo's shoulder.

Vincenzo ignored the searing pain, grabbing the man's wrist and snapping it backward with a sickening crunch.

He grabbed his fallen pistol and finished the job, leaving the hallway utterly silent.

Panting heavily and bleeding through his suit, Vincenzo keyed the access code into the steel door.
