Chapter 7 - Vivian's Ruin

Vivian screamed as Luca’s body hit the floor, scrambling backward away from the spreading blood.
Her father raised his hands in surrender, his arrogance completely shattered by Alessandro’s brutal display of power.
"Alessandro, please, we can negotiate," the old man begged, his voice cracking with genuine terror.
"There are no negotiations with snakes," Alessandro replied, wiping Luca’s blood from his expensive shoes.
He threw a thick manila folder onto the floor, the papers scattering across the dusty stone.
"Those are the financial records proving you paid Luca to assassinate me and take my territory," Alessandro declared loudly.
He looked at Vivian, who was now weeping, her beautiful face twisted in ugly, desperate fear.
"You thought you could poison me in my own home, surrounded by my own people," he told her with utter disgust.
"I am breaking the treaty, effective immediately."
He looked at her father and brothers, his eyes completely devoid of mercy or compassion.
"You have twenty-four hours to pack your bags and leave New York forever."
"If I see any of you in my city after tomorrow, I will hunt you down like animals."
Vivian tried to reach for him, begging for forgiveness, pleading that it was her father's idea.

Alessandro ignored her, turning his back on the pathetic family and walking toward the exit.
He had reclaimed his empire, but there was still one vital piece of unfinished business waiting for him.
