Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

Five years passed, washing away the bitter memories of betrayal and poison.
The Moretti estate was bathed in warm summer sunlight, the gardens blooming in vibrant, explosive colors.
Alessandro sat on the veranda, sipping espresso and watching an eight-year-old Lily chase butterflies across the lawn.
He was no longer just the feared king of the New York underworld.
He was a man who knew the ASL signs for every animal, a man who attended parent-teacher conferences with terrifying intensity.
Rosa stepped out onto the porch, carrying a tray of fresh fruit, wearing a beautiful, simple white dress.
She placed a gentle hand on Alessandro’s broad shoulder, and he leaned into her touch with a content sigh.
They had married quietly two years ago, a private ceremony far away from the prying eyes of the syndicates.
"She is growing up so fast," Rosa signed and spoke simultaneously, smiling warmly at her daughter.
"She will be fierce," Alessandro replied, his eyes filled with fierce, unwavering pride.
Lily turned around, noticing them watching her, and ran across the grass toward the porch.
"I love you, Papa," she signed beautifully, her face glowing with pure joy.
Alessandro smiled, a true, deeply happy smile that completely erased the intimidating scar above his eye.
