Chapter 6 - The Fall of Luca

Panic erupted in the cathedral as Vivian’s family realized they had walked into a slaughterhouse.
Her brothers drew their guns, but Dante’s men fired a warning volley into the stone ceiling, dropping dust and debris.
"Drop the weapons, or you all die on holy ground," Alessandro commanded, turning around to face Luca.
Luca’s hand was shaking, the barrel of his gun wavering as he stared at the army surrounding him.
"You knew," Luca whispered, his face draining of color as the reality of his failure set in.
"A little girl saw you playing your dirty games, Luca," Alessandro sneered, stepping closer to the barrel of the gun.
"She saw the poison, and she saw your cowardly little nod."
Alessandro took another step forward, his chest now pressing directly against the muzzle of Luca’s weapon.
"Shoot me," Alessandro challenged, his eyes burning with a terrifying, demonic intensity.
Luca hesitated, his finger trembling on the trigger, the weight of his betrayal paralyzing him.
In that split second of cowardice, Alessandro struck with the speed of a striking viper.
He grabbed the gun, twisting it violently out of Luca’s grip and snapping his wrist with a sickening crack.
Luca screamed, falling to his knees as Alessandro aimed the stolen weapon down at him.
"This is for Miguel Delgado," Alessandro said coldly, his voice echoing in the silent church.
