Chapter 6 - The Setup

Julian left the estate with more questions than answers. If it wasn't his mother, it had to be Victoria. But Victoria was currently supposedly out of the country on a luxury yacht in the Mediterranean. Julian pulled out his phone and called his best friend and corporate lawyer, Marcus.
"Julian! Man, I heard about the police at your house," Marcus answered, sounding genuinely panicked. "Is Elise okay? Are you safe?"
"We're fine, Marcus. We're hidden," Julian said, walking briskly toward his armored car. "I need you to do something for me. I need you to pull the flight logs for Victoria Sterling's private jet. I need to know if she's actually in Europe."
Marcus hesitated. "Julian, if I hack into her father's aviation records, I could lose my license. What are you thinking?"
"I think she sent the package. I need proof. Just do it, Marcus. Please."
"Okay. Give me an hour," Marcus sighed.
Julian hung up and drove back to the safehouse. When he arrived, Vance was reviewing security footage from the street cameras outside Julian's townhouse.
"I tracked the guy in the hoodie," Vance said, pointing to the screen. "He got into a black sedan three blocks away. I ran the plates. It’s a shell company registered in Panama."
Julian’s phone buzzed. It was Marcus.

"Julian," Marcus’s voice was breathless. "Victoria’s jet never left the country. It landed at a private airstrip in New Jersey two days ago. She’s here."
Julian’s jaw tightened. "Find out where she's staying. We end this tonight."
