Chapter 8 - The Return

The bright afternoon sun was shining beautifully when my private luxury car pulled into my familiar driveway.

I stepped out of the vehicle wearing a stunning, tailored white pantsuit and large designer sunglasses.

Lorenzo stepped out of the other side of the car, looking incredibly handsome in a classic Italian suit.

He held my hand gently as we walked up the pathway toward the grand double doors of my home.

I inserted my key, pushed the heavy doors open, and immediately stopped in my tracks.

The smell of stale garbage and rotten food violently assaulted my senses the moment I stepped inside.

The floors were completely sticky, the expensive rugs were deeply stained, and trash was piled high in the kitchen.

Tiffany was sitting miserably on a small stool near the kitchen island, looking pale, exhausted, and completely defeated.

She looked up, her eyes widening in absolute shock as she took in my glamorous new appearance and the handsome man standing beside me.

"Margaret... you're back," Tiffany whispered, her voice cracking with intense emotion.

"I am back, Tiffany, and I see you have treated my home with the exact same respect you have always shown me," I noted coldly.

"I am so sorry, Margaret, I can explain everything, please just listen to me," she begged, standing up slowly.

"Kevin left me, my family hates me, and I have absolutely nowhere else to go!" she sobbed.

I slowly took off my sunglasses, looking at her with absolutely no pity or sympathy in my heart.

"Where is Kevin?" I asked simply, ignoring her dramatic tears entirely.

"He moved into a small apartment downtown, he filed for divorce, and he completely cut me off financially," she cried loudly.

"Good for him," I said smoothly, feeling a sudden surge of deep pride for my son.

"He finally grew a spine and realized what a toxic, parasitic person you truly are."

I walked over to the messy kitchen counter and picked up the unsigned lease agreement I had left exactly one month ago.

"You did not sign the lease, and you obviously do not have the four thousand dollars for rent," I stated clearly.

"Please, Margaret, just give me another chance, I will clean the entire house myself!" she pleaded desperately.

"I do not want you to clean my house, Tiffany," I replied, my voice remaining completely calm and steady.

"I want you to get out of my house, immediately and permanently."

Tiffany gasped, realizing that her manipulative tears and pathetic apologies were completely useless against my new boundaries.

"You have exactly one hour to pack whatever fits into your car and leave this property," I commanded firmly.

"If you are still here in sixty-one minutes, Lorenzo will gladly call the local police to report a trespasser."
