Chapter 10 - A Beautiful Sunset

Six months rapidly passed, bringing absolutely beautiful and permanent changes to my new life.

The massive, empty house in the suburbs sold almost immediately for well over the initial asking price.

I used a portion of the vast profits to purchase a stunning, ultra-modern penthouse condo overlooking the sparkling Atlantic ocean.

There were no extra guest bedrooms for demanding relatives, and absolutely no large kitchen to cater to ungrateful crowds.

It was exactly the perfect size for Lorenzo and me, entirely filled with bright light, ocean breezes, and quiet peace.

Kevin's divorce from Tiffany was officially finalized, and he was completely forced to pay off her massive credit card debts.

It was a very expensive, very painful lesson for him, but he finally learned the true, heavy cost of enabling a narcissist.

He frequently visited my new condo for quiet Sunday dinners, always bringing expensive wine and helping clean the dishes afterward.

He was finally becoming the strong, respectful, independent man I always knew he could be.

Tiffany had completely vanished from our lives, reportedly moving back into her mother's cramped house after running out of money entirely.

I never checked her Instagram, I never asked about her, and I never wasted another single second thinking about her pathetic existence.

One beautiful, warm evening, Lorenzo and I were sitting on the expansive glass balcony of my new penthouse.

We were drinking perfectly chilled champagne and watching the brilliant, orange sun slowly set over the vast, beautiful ocean.

"Are you completely happy here, my beautiful Margaret?" Lorenzo asked softly, wrapping his strong arm comfortably around my shoulders.

I took a slow sip of my expensive wine, looking around at the absolutely perfect, drama-free life I had actively created for myself.

I had successfully reclaimed my absolute dignity, enforced my firm boundaries, and found genuine, passionate love in the process.

"I have never been happier in my entire life, Lorenzo," I answered honestly, resting my head perfectly against his chest.

The woman who used to silently scrub floors and swallow cruel insults was completely, permanently gone.

In her place stood a strong, wealthy, deeply respected woman who absolutely refused to ever settle for less than she deserved.

The sun finally dipped completely below the beautiful horizon, but my glorious, entirely new life was only just beginning.
