Chapter 4 - The Christmas Eve Disaster

Christmas Eve finally arrived, bringing a completely unparalleled level of drama to the house.

In Tuscany, I was currently sitting at a rustic wooden table in a private vineyard, tasting the finest red wines in the world.

A charming, silver-haired Italian gentleman named Lorenzo had bought me a beautiful plate of fresh truffle pasta.

He looked into my eyes and told me I was the most elegant woman he had ever seen in his life.

Back in Florida, elegance was completely dead and buried beneath a mountain of dirty laundry and burned food.

Tiffany had desperately attempted to roast the massive turkey, but she had completely failed to thaw it properly.

When she placed the giant bird in the center of the dining table, it looked dark and crispy on the outside.

But the moment her uncle carved into the center with a large electric knife, blood and raw, pink meat spilled out onto the fine china.

"Good lord, Tiffany, you are going to give us all severe food poisoning!" Brenda shrieked in absolute horror.

The entire table groaned in disgust, pushing their expensive dinner plates away immediately.

"It is not my fault, the oven is completely broken!" Tiffany lied defensively, her face turning bright red with intense embarrassment.

"Where is Margaret? She usually has this entire holiday running perfectly smoothly," Brenda demanded aggressively.

"Margaret decided to be incredibly selfish and abandon us right before the holidays," Tiffany spat, trying to shift the blame.

Kevin slammed his fist onto the dining room table, making the crystal water glasses violently shake.

"Do not ever speak about my mother like that again," Kevin growled, his voice dangerously low.

The entire dining room instantly fell into a heavy, shocked silence.

"My mother did not abandon us," Kevin continued, his anger finally boiling completely over.

"She finally refused to be treated like an unpaid servant by you and your completely ungrateful family."

Tiffany gasped, looking at her husband as if he had just slapped her across the face.

"How dare you speak to my daughter that way!" Brenda yelled, standing up aggressively from her chair.

"This entire dinner is a complete disaster, the house is a mess, and we are ordering expensive takeout pizzas!" she declared.

The children started crying, the uncles started complaining about the lack of alcohol, and the chaotic night completely unraveled.

Kevin slowly pushed his chair back, stood up, and walked out of the dining room without saying another word.

He went directly into the master bedroom, pulled out a large duffel bag, and began packing his clothes.

The grand, perfect Instagram Christmas that Tiffany had so desperately wanted had completely destroyed her own marriage.
