Chapter 7 - The Lion's Roar

The press room at the Vance Tech headquarters was packed to the brim with journalists, paparazzi, and financial analysts. The air was thick with anticipation. Everyone expected a divorce announcement. Everyone expected the billionaire to cut his losses.
Julian walked onto the stage, holding Clara's hand tightly. She was pale, but she held her head high.
Julian stepped up to the podium. He didn't bring notes. He didn't bring a PR representative.
"This morning," Julian began, his voice echoing through the silent room, "a vicious, entirely fabricated article was published regarding my wife and our family. I am here to correct the record once and for all. And I am only going to say this once."
He looked directly into the bank of cameras.
"My wife, Clara Vance, is a woman of unparalleled integrity. The children pictured in those tabloids are not her illegitimate offspring. They are her younger siblings: Leo, Sam, and Mia. Six years ago, their parents were tragically killed in a house fire."
A collective gasp rippled through the press corps. The journalists stopped typing, stunned.
"Clara threw herself over those children while the roof collapsed on them," Julian continued, his voice thick with emotion, but steady as steel. "She sustained catastrophic third-degree burns across her back to save their lives. And when the state threatened to separate them, she gave up her youth, moved to a city she didn't know, and scrubbed floors on her hands and knees to pay for their care. She did this in secret, asking for nothing, complaining to no one."
Tears were streaming down Clara’s face now, but she didn't wipe them away.
"The people who leaked this story—people in my own circles—wanted you to believe she was a gold-digger," Julian said, his eyes darkening with fury. "But let me tell you this: I am the lucky one. I am the one who gets to wake up every day next to a hero. I am officially adopting Leo, Sam, and Mia. They are Vances now."
Julian leaned forward, his grip on the podium turning his knuckles white.

"To the tabloids that published those photos of my children: my legal team is filing a multi-million dollar defamation and privacy lawsuit against you as we speak. To the 'anonymous sources' who fed you these lies—Victoria Sterling, and my own mother, Eleanor Vance—your connections to my family and my company are permanently severed. If Vance Tech’s board of directors feels my devotion to my wife is a liability, they can have my resignation today. But I will never, ever apologize for loving Clara."
He stepped away from the podium, took Clara's hand, and walked off the stage to the sound of deafening, stunned silence, which quickly erupted into a frenzy of camera flashes.
