Chapter 10 - The Legacy of Love

A year later.
The sprawling lawns of the Hamptons estate were bathed in the golden light of a warm July afternoon. The air was filled with the sounds of pure, unadulterated joy.
Leo, now eleven, was sprinting across the grass, expertly catching a football thrown by Julian. Toby was attempting to train the family's massive new Golden Retriever, with hilariously little success. And Mia, dressed in a tiny tutu and a tiara, was sitting on a picnic blanket, having a very serious tea party with a completely charmed, doting Beatrice Sterling.
The estate was no longer a silent, cold museum of old money. It was a home.
Clara stood on the grand patio, leaning against one of the marble pillars, watching her family. She was no longer the timid, quiet maid who kept her head bowed. She stood tall, radiating a quiet, unshakeable confidence. She wore a breezy summer dress, the high collar gone, allowing a few of her burn scars to peek out on her shoulder—badges of honor she no longer felt the need to hide.
Julian jogged over, his white dress shirt unbuttoned at the collar, his hair slightly messy from playing with the boys. He wrapped his arms around Clara from behind, resting his hands gently on her stomach.
"They're wearing me out, Mrs. Sterling," Julian laughed, kissing her neck.
"You love every second of it, Mr. Sterling," Clara smiled, leaning back into his solid embrace.
"I do," he admitted softly, his eyes scanning the lawn. He watched Beatrice gently wipe a smudge of chocolate off Mia's face. He watched Leo and Toby tackle each other in the grass, safe, fed, and fiercely loved. He had officially adopted all three of them six months ago. The paperwork had been the proudest moment of his life.
"Julian?" Clara asked, her voice dropping to a soft, emotional whisper. She turned around to face him, placing her hands flat against his chest.
"What is it, my love?" he asked, instantly sensing the shift in her energy.
"You remember when you told me you were ready to accept everything about me?" she asked, her green eyes shining with unshed tears. "My scars, my siblings, my past?"
"And I meant it. Every word. For the rest of my life," he vowed.
"Well," Clara smiled, taking one of his large hands and pressing it firmly against her lower stomach. "I need to know if you're ready to accept something else."
Julian froze. His eyes widened, darting from her stomach up to her tear-filled, radiant eyes. His breath caught in his throat.
"Clara... are you...?"
She nodded, a joyous sob escaping her lips. "I'm pregnant, Julian. We're having a baby."
For a moment, the brilliant, ruthless billionaire CEO was entirely speechless again. But this time, it wasn't from shock or heartbreak. It was from a magnitude of joy so immense he thought his heart might burst.
Julian let out a triumphant shout, picking Clara up and spinning her around on the patio as she laughed and cried at the same time. The kids stopped playing and ran over, cheering at the sight of Julian acting so wild. Even Beatrice stood up, clapping her hands with a wide, genuine smile.
Julian gently set Clara down, framing her face with his hands. He looked into the eyes of the woman who had scrubbed floors, who had walked through fire, who had sacrificed everything for love.

"I love you, Clara Sterling," Julian whispered, pressing his forehead against hers. "You are my heaven."
"And you are my home," she replied, kissing him as the afternoon sun wrapped their family in a perfect, unbreakable light.
