Chapter 9 - The Courtroom
The family court battle lasted less than twenty minutes.
Julian’s high-priced lawyers tried to argue that the security footage was obtained illegally. The judge, an older woman with zero tolerance for white-collar nonsense, threatened to have Julian arrested for child abuse if he didn't surrender all parental rights immediately.
Julian signed the papers. He walked out of the courthouse completely ruined. His reputation in Silicon Valley was destroyed. No venture capital firm would touch him.
I took the stand briefly just to testify to Leo’s progress.
"Mr. Vance," the judge asked. "In your professional opinion, what is Leo Sterling's prognosis?"
I looked at the back of the courtroom, where Leo was sitting next to his mother, typing furiously on his tablet.

"He doesn't have a prognosis, Your Honor," I said proudly. "Because he isn't sick. He just operates on a different operating system than the rest of us. And once you give him the right hardware, he is going to change the world."
The judge smiled. "Case closed."
