Chapter 7 - The Boardroom Shield

Friday morning. The boardroom was packed with billionaire investors, shareholders, and Julian Thorne, sitting at the end of the table with a smug, victorious grin.

Victoria walked in, wearing her signature white suit. I walked in behind her, holding Leo’s hand. Leo was wearing noise-canceling headphones, happily holding his brass bolt.

"Victoria," Julian said loudly. "Is it really appropriate to bring the child to a high-stakes financial meeting? Especially given his... volatile history?"

"Leo is fine," Victoria said coldly, taking her seat at the head of the table.

Julian covertly pressed a button under the table. He was activating the high-frequency sound loop he had rigged.

He waited for Leo to scream.

He waited for the meltdown.

Nothing happened.

Leo just sat in the corner, happily arranging his magnetic tiles.

Julian frowned, pressing the button harder.

"Are you looking for this, Mr. Thorne?" I asked loudly.

I tossed a tangled mess of copper wires and a frequency emitter onto the polished mahogany table. The entire board gasped.

"I found this wired into the boardroom speakers last night," I addressed the room. "Designed to emit a 17,000-hertz frequency. A frequency that causes extreme physical pain to children with sensory processing disorders."

Julian’s face went pale. "That... that's absurd! I have no idea what that is!"

"Really?" Victoria asked, her voice turning to pure ice. She pressed a button on her remote.

The massive projector screen lowered, playing crisp 4K security footage from the night before. It showed Julian sneaking into the boardroom, handing an envelope of cash to a rogue technician, and installing the device.

The boardroom erupted into chaos.
