Chapter 4 - The Evaluation

At 2:00 PM, Julian’s hired guns arrived. Dr. Aris and Dr. Vance—two high-priced, arrogant psychiatrists who specialized in writing whatever reports the highest bidder demanded.

They sat in Victoria’s private lounge. Leo was sitting in the corner, building a massive, intricate structure out of magnetic tiles.

"As you can see, the boy is completely detached from reality," Dr. Aris muttered, furiously scribbling on a clipboard. "No eye contact. Repetitive motions. He requires a secure facility."

Dr. Aris stood up and walked toward Leo. "Leo. Put the blocks down. Look at me."

Leo’s shoulders tensed. The doctor reached out to grab the magnetic tiles.

Before the doctor's hand could touch the toy, my grease-stained hand clamped around his wrist like a vice.

"Do not touch his work," I growled, my voice low and dangerous.

Dr. Aris gasped, trying to pull away. "Unhand me! I am a medical professional!"

"You're an idiot," I corrected, letting him go. I turned to Victoria and Julian. "Look at the tiles."

They looked.

"He's not just stacking blocks," I pointed out. "He's building a perfect, 3D scale model of this exact building. Look at the support beams. Look at the atrium. He even left a gap on the fourth floor where the conference room is."

Victoria gasped, covering her mouth.

"He isn't detached from reality," I said, looking at Julian. "He understands the architecture of this world better than any of us. You just don't speak his language. And if you try to lock him up, you'll be destroying a genius just because you're too stupid to read his blueprints."

Julian’s face turned bright red. "This is absurd! This man is a janitor! He has no credentials!"

"I have twenty-four years of experience raising a son on the spectrum," I fired back. "And I know a cash-grab evaluation when I see one. Get out of this room before I call security to throw you out."
