Chapter 4 - The Bait

"We can't just give this to the cops," Chloe said, echoing my earlier thoughts. "Sarah's brother will bury it. We need a confession. Something undeniable, broadcasted so loud they can't cover it up."
"How do we get that?" I asked.
Chloe smiled, a dangerous, wolfish grin. "We play on their paranoia."
Using a masked IP address and an untraceable burner number, I sent a text to Mark’s personal cell phone. I saw what you and Sarah buried under the greenhouse. I know Elias didn't do it. I have a copy of the cloud drive. $250,000, or it goes to the FBI.
We waited. Ten minutes later, a reply came through. Who is this?

I texted back: Someone who wants to get paid. Midnight tonight. The abandoned railyard on 4th Street. Come alone, or Elias isn't the only one going to prison for Mr. Henderson's murder.
"He’s panicking," Chloe said, watching the read receipts. "He’ll tell Sarah. They’ll scramble. They’re arrogant, and arrogant people make mistakes."
