He was convicted of First-Degree Murder and sentenced to life in a federal penitentiary without the possibility of parole. Vivienne received seven years for her role in hiding the evidence and extortion.
Six months after the gavel fell, I stood on a quiet, sunlit hill in the cemetery.
The white lilies were gone, replaced by vibrant, enduring roses. I knelt beside Clara’s pristine marble headstone, brushing a fallen leaf from her name.
The company was thriving. I had restructured Vance-Hayes Innovations, legally renaming it the Clara Hayes Foundation. All the profits that Julian had planned to steal were now being channeled into a massive philanthropic fund dedicated to protecting women from domestic abuse and financial manipulation.
I placed a single, perfect white rose on the grass above where she and my grandson lay.
