Chapter 8 - The Custody Hearing
The family court hearing took place exactly three agonizing months after the dramatic arrests at the corporate gala.
I sat confidently at the plaintiff's table, wearing a sharp navy blue tailored suit, with Luke sitting right beside me as my legal counsel.
Justin was led into the courtroom wearing a bright orange county jail jumpsuit, his wrists firmly shackled to his waist chain.
He had lost a significant amount of weight, his normally perfectly styled hair was a complete mess, and his eyes were hollow.
His highly expensive defense lawyers had completely abandoned him once Richard Vance successfully froze all of his stolen assets.
He was now relying on an overworked public defender who looked entirely exhausted by the massive mountain of evidence against his client.
"Your Honor, my client is simply asking for supervised visitation rights with his only daughter," the public defender argued weakly.
Luke stood up slowly, calmly straightening his silk tie before addressing the stern-faced judge.
"Your Honor, we are aggressively petitioning for sole legal and physical custody, with the permanent termination of all parental rights," Luke stated firmly.
Justin violently jerked against his heavy chains, causing a loud metallic rattle to echo through the courtroom.
"You can't take my baby girl away from me!" Justin screamed, his voice cracking with desperate panic.
The judge slammed his heavy wooden gavel down, shooting Justin a terrifying, warning glare.
"One more outburst, Mr. Davis, and I will have the bailiff physically gag you," the judge warned coldly.
Luke calmly handed a thick electronic tablet directly to the court clerk, who passed it up to the judge.
"Your Honor, please review exhibit A, which is the high-definition security footage from the pediatric clinic," Luke instructed.
The judge silently watched the video of Vanessa forcefully slapping me while I tightly held an infant, and Justin instantly comforting the vicious attacker.
The judge's face hardened into a mask of pure disgust as the video clearly showed Justin demanding I apologize to the violent mistress.
"Furthermore, Justin Davis is currently facing a massive federal indictment for grand larceny and wire fraud," Luke continued smoothly.
"He possesses absolutely zero financial resources, zero moral character, and represents a clear and present danger to the child's well-being."
The public defender did not even attempt to offer a proper rebuttal; he simply stared at his legal pad in total defeat.

The gavel came down with a final, echoing strike that officially severed Justin's legal ties to my beautiful daughter forever.
