Chapter 7 - The Arrest

The flashing red and blue lights of multiple police cruisers illuminated the resort's massive glass windows.
Four uniformed officers marched aggressively into the elegant ballroom, instantly killing the party atmosphere.
Richard Vance stood firmly, pointing directly at Justin, who was still kneeling on the floor in absolute shock.
"That man has committed massive corporate fraud, and I want him formally arrested immediately," Richard declared loudly.
Two officers quickly grabbed Justin by the arms, hauling him roughly to his feet and pulling his hands behind his back.
The loud, metallic click of the steel handcuffs echoed sharply through the completely silent hallway.
Justin did not even try to fight them; all the arrogant fight had been entirely drained from his pathetic body.
"Clara, please help me," Justin begged, crying real, pathetic tears as they dragged him toward the exit.
I looked at him with absolutely zero pity, feeling nothing but a profound sense of total relief.
"Tell that to the judge," I replied, throwing his own arrogant threat directly back in his face.
Vanessa tried to quietly slip away into the crowd, hoping the chaos would allow her to escape unnoticed.
But Mark had already signaled the remaining two police officers, pointing directly at the fleeing mistress.
"That woman is Vanessa Cárdenas, and there is an active warrant for her arrest regarding an assault at the Scottsdale pediatric clinic," Mark stated.
The officers quickly intercepted her, forcefully grabbing her arms before she could reach the valet stand.
"Get your filthy hands off me, I know my legal rights!" Vanessa screamed, kicking wildly at the officers.
They slammed her firmly against the marble wall, aggressively securing her wrists in heavy handcuffs.
"You have the right to remain completely silent," the officer calmly recited as she continued to thrash like a wild animal.
I watched them both get forcefully shoved into the back of separate squad cars, their glamorous night ending in absolute disgrace.
My brothers stood right beside me, a solid, unbreakable wall of fierce family protection.
"Are you okay, Clara?" Luke asked softly, placing a comforting hand on my trembling shoulder.
"I am fine, Luke," I smiled, breathing in the fresh Arizona night air.
