Chapter 8 - The Desperate Ploy

A week later, I sat in the polished office of a prominent family law attorney.

Mr. Davis listened intently as I laid out the entire timeline, handing over the incident report and the CPS visit documentation.

"They are toxic, vindictive, and clearly dangerous to my child's well-being," I concluded.

"I need to know my legal options to keep them away permanently."

Mr. Davis leaned back, reviewing the paperwork with a sharp, calculating gaze.

"In our state, grandparents do have some avenues to petition for visitation rights," he explained.

"However, that usually requires proving that a relationship with them is strictly in the child's best interest."

He tapped the Disney incident report with his expensive pen.

"This document alone completely destroys any argument they could possibly make in a courtroom."

"No judge in their right mind will grant visitation to adults who intentionally abandoned a child as a form of punishment."

As if on cue, my lawyer's secretary walked in and handed him a sealed envelope.

He opened it, skimmed the contents, and let out a dry, amused chuckle.

"Well, it seems your mother has hired a discount lawyer to send us a cease-and-desist letter," Mr. Davis said.

"She is demanding mandatory weekend visitation with Elliot, claiming parental alienation."

I felt a flash of anger, but Mr. Davis held up a reassuring hand.

"Don't worry. This is standard intimidation tactics from desperate people."

"We are going to respond by filing for a permanent restraining order against all three of them."

"We will use the police report from their false CPS claim and the Disney documentation as grounds for harassment and endangerment."

I smiled, feeling the heavy burden of fear finally lift from my shoulders.

I gave him the green light to proceed with absolute ruthlessness.

They wanted a legal battle, and I was going to give them a war they could never win.
