Chapter 8 - The Begging Relatives

As Richard and Margaret’s social empire burned to the ground, the collateral damage began to spread.

The extended family members who had snickered at the anniversary party suddenly found themselves facing intense backlash.

Marcus’s phone began to fill with desperate voicemails from aunts, uncles, and cousins.

"Marcus, please, you have to tell the internet that I wasn't laughing at Leo," his Uncle Thomas pleaded in one message.

"My dental practice is being review-bombed on Google, and I am losing all my patients!"

Another voicemail came from the cousin who had originally filmed the video, crying hysterically.

"I took the video down, Marcus, please call my boss and tell him I'm a good person!"

Marcus sat at his desk, deleting every single message without a shred of hesitation.

He remembered exactly who had stood by and watched his children suffer.

He remembered the cruel whispers, the pointing fingers, and the absolute lack of human decency in that family.

They were only sorry because they were finally facing the consequences of their own toxic behavior.

He drafted a single, mass email to every member of the extended family.

"You all watched my children cry, and you did absolutely nothing to help them," he typed.

"Do not ever contact me or my children again, or I will let my lawyers handle the harassment."

He clicked send, permanently severing the rotten branches from his family tree.
