Chapter 9 - The Apology in the Rain

Leah was sitting on the edge of her motel bed, packing her single suitcase to leave the city forever, when the flimsy wooden door was nearly knocked off its hinges.
She opened it to find Caleb standing in the pouring rain. He was not wearing a tailored suit. He wore a damp henley, his hair wild, his chest heaving as if he had run all the way there.
"Caleb?" she whispered.
Before she could say another word, the billionaire who bowed to no one dropped to his knees on the cheap, stained carpet. He buried his face in her hands.
"I was wrong," his voice cracked, raw with emotion. "I was a blind, arrogant, terrified fool. Marcus set you up. I know everything. Leah, I am so sorry."
Leah looked down at the powerful man crying against her hands. Her anger dissolved, replaced by the profound love she held for him. She knelt down on the floor with him, wrapping her arms around his broad shoulders.

"You're a stubborn idiot," she whispered, crying into his damp hair.
"I am," he agreed, pulling her tightly against his chest. "I will spend the rest of my life making it up to you. Just please, don't leave me. You are my entire world."
