Chapter 5 - The Trap Snaps Shut

"Caleb, we caught her red-handed," Marcus stammered, intimidated by the sheer menace rolling off his step-brother.
Caleb didn't look at the ring. He held out his hand to his head of security. "Show him."
The security chief pulled out an iPad and tapped the screen. It was a feed from a hidden, pinhole camera located in the hallway outside Evelyn’s suite. It clearly showed Seraphina slipping into the room while Leah was in the bathroom, dropping the ring into Leah’s purse, and darting away.
Marcus’s face went chalk-white. "That... that’s manipulated footage!"
"I had cameras installed in the private corridors last week because I knew you were plotting something," Caleb stated coldly. "You tried to frame the woman protecting my mother."
Caleb turned to his guards. "Pack Marcus and Seraphina’s belongings. They have exactly one hour to vacate my property. They are permanently cut off from the Thorne trust."
As Marcus began to beg, Caleb ignored him, motioning for the guards to drag him out.
When the room cleared, Evelyn chuckled from her armchair. "Good riddance to bad rubbish."
Caleb turned to Leah. She was shaking, the adrenaline crashing. Without a word, Caleb closed the distance between them. He wrapped his massive arms around her, pulling her flush against his chest.

"I have you," he murmured into her hair. "No one will ever touch you."
Leah looked up, meeting his stormy gray eyes. The restraint he had carried for months finally broke. Caleb leaned down and kissed her—a consuming, desperate kiss that claimed her completely.
