Chapter 5 - The Public Execution

The media storm hit the global news networks precisely at noon.
Victoria’s PR team had meticulously orchestrated the release of Julian’s deepest, darkest secrets to every major journalistic outlet.
Screens across Times Square lit up with breaking news alerts featuring Julian Sterling’s handsome, smiling face plastered next to the word "FRAUD."
News anchors enthusiastically tore apart his meticulously crafted public persona on live television.
They exposed the offshore accounts, the forged signatures, and the horrific truth about his plot to murder his disabled wife.
In his concrete cell, the operatives had finally turned on a small television monitor mounted behind the protective glass.
Julian stood paralyzed, watching in absolute disbelief as his entire legacy was burned to ash in real-time.
“No, no, no,” he muttered, pressing his hands against the cold glass as the screen flashed images of his frozen bank accounts.
He watched as his multi-million dollar mansion was raided by federal agents acting on Victoria’s anonymous tips.
He saw his prized collection of vintage sports cars being towed away on flatbed trucks.
Every charity he had used as a tax haven publicly denounced him, cutting all ties instantly.
“You can’t do this to me! I am a respected man!” Julian screamed at the television screen.
The news anchor on the screen shifted to a live press conference happening outside Sterling Innovations headquarters.
Victoria stood at the podium, looking regal and invincible, with Clara sitting proudly in her wheelchair beside her.
“My son-in-law is a monster who tried to destroy my family,” Victoria announced to a sea of flashing cameras.
“But the Sterling women do not break, and we do not surrender.”
Julian fell to his knees on the concrete floor, his hands gripping his hair as a guttural scream of pure agony ripped from his throat.
His money was gone.

His reputation was obliterated.
He was absolutely, entirely powerless.
