Chapter 5 - THE CONFESSION ON TAPE

The professional hitman froze completely, his eyes widening in absolute terror as he looked up at the deadly barrel of my gun.
He was a highly trained, expensive professional, but absolutely nobody wants to die for a simple corporate paycheck.
“Arthur Sterling personally hired me,” the large man choked out, quickly raising his gloved hands in complete surrender.
“Keep talking,” I demanded coldly, pressing the hot steel of the gun even harder against his sweating skull.
“He paid me half a million euros in untraceable crypto to make absolutely sure you had a tragic, fatal accident tonight.”
I pulled my encrypted cell phone from my pajama pocket with my free hand and immediately hit the record button.
“Say everything again, loudly and clearly for the camera, or you will not leave this bathroom alive.”
The hitman swallowed hard, repeating the entire violent assassination contract in vivid, horrifying detail.
He nervously confessed that Arthur had also explicitly ordered the initial hit on Julian, personally using Silas to orchestrate the brutal boat ambush.
“Where exactly is Arthur right now?” I asked coldly, never moving the weapon from his head.
“He and Silas are currently waiting at the private executive airfield on the edge of the city.”
“They are frantically packing up the corporate jet and preparing to flee permanently to a non-extradition country in South America.”
I smiled grimly in the dark, incredibly satisfied with the crystal-clear recorded confession sitting on my phone.
I used heavy industrial zip-ties to secure the hitman tightly to the thick plumbing pipes under the sink and left him for the police.
I dialed Evelyn’s secure, untraceable line as I rushed out of the dark, silent penthouse.
“Send all the forensic evidence to the federal prosecutor immediately,” I ordered her sharply over the phone.
“I am going straight to the airfield to make absolutely sure they miss their midnight flight.”
I grabbed the heavy metal keys to a high-performance sports car from my fallen guard's valet lockbox downstairs.
May you like
The freezing rain was pouring down in heavy, blinding sheets, but I pushed the car to its absolute mechanical limits.
They were absolutely not going to escape the brutal justice they so richly deserved.
