Chapter 10 - The Masterpiece

One year later.

The penthouse overlooking the Boston skyline was quiet. The snow was falling outside in soft, silent sheets, turning the glass walls into mirrors.

Julian stood by the window, looking out at the city. But this time, he wasn't alone, and he wasn't hollow.

Elena walked up behind him, wrapping her arms around his waist, resting her cheek against his back. "She finally went to sleep. It only took three bedtime stories and a glass of water."

Julian smiled, turning around and wrapping his arms around his wife. They had quietly remarried three months prior in a tiny ceremony on the coast, with only Leo and Nora in attendance.

"She's a tough negotiator," Julian chuckled, kissing the top of Elena's head. "She gets that from her mother."

"She gets her stubbornness from her father," Elena corrected, looking up at him with eyes full of warmth and absolute trust.

Julian brought a hand up to cup her cheek, his thumb tracing her jawline. "I love you, Elena. More than I ever knew how to love someone five years ago."

"I know," she whispered. "I love you too."

Julian looked out at the falling snow. Five years ago, in this exact room, he had made the greatest mistake of his life. He had let a lie sever his soul. But standing here now, holding the woman who had possessed the grace to let him earn his way back, he realized that a foundation built on truth was unbreakable.
