Chapter 7 - The Exile

The scene in the living room was cold. Evelyn walked in, expecting a romantic evening, only to be met by Dominic holding the ledger.
"I know about the charities," he said. His voice was like grinding stone. "I know about the physical abuse. And I know about the skimming."
Evelyn’s face drained of color. She tried to cry, to manipulate, to cling to his arm. Dominic pulled away as if she were burning him.

He had his men escort her out. She left with nothing but the clothes on her back.
