The following weeks were a whirlwind of court dates and legal proceedings.
I stood in the courtroom, holding Elena’s hand firmly in mine, as the judge handed down the sentences.
Vivienne was sentenced to twenty years in federal prison for kidnapping and fraud.
Her father received a life sentence for his illegal operations and corporate crimes.
As Vivienne was led out of the courtroom, she locked eyes with me one last time.
There was no smirk, no arrogance, only the hollow desperation of a broken woman.
I didn't feel anger anymore; I only felt pity for someone so utterly devoid of a soul.
I turned my back on her and walked out into the bright sunshine with my wife.

But we were committed to doing it together, side by side, as a team.
I hired the best therapists, the best security, and dedicated my life entirely to my family.
I stepped down as CEO of my company, taking a permanent leave of absence to be a full-time father.
