Chapter 2 - The Confrontation

Silence stretched between us, thick and suffocating.

Vivienne took a step back, her chest heaving as she tried to regain control.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she stammered, her voice trembling slightly.

I pulled the heavily redacted medical transfer form from my jacket pocket and slammed it onto the glass table.

“Don’t lie to me anymore! I went to the security contractor's house.”

“I saw the unedited logs, the fake bank transfers, and the truth about Elena.”

Vivienne looked at the papers, and a cold, chilling laugh escaped her lips.

“So you figured it out, did you?” she sneered, dropping the innocent act completely.

“It doesn’t matter, Julian, because you are already too late.”

“My mother needs that child’s bone marrow to survive, and he is already on his way to Geneva.”

My fists clenched so hard my fingernails dug into my palms, drawing blood.

“You destroyed my marriage, framed the woman I loved, and kidnapped my infant son.”

“And you actually thought I would just stand by and let you get away with it?”

I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone, pressing a single button.

The audio of her confession, which I had just recorded, was immediately sent to my head of PR and the FBI.

Vivienne lunged for the phone, her face twisted in ugly, desperate rage.

“Give me that, you idiot! You have no idea who you are messing with!”

I caught her wrist, my grip like iron, and shoved her back onto the velvet sofa.

“No, Vivienne, you have no idea who you are messing with.”

“I am Julian Hayes, and I built a tech empire from nothing.”

“By tomorrow morning, your family’s legacy will be ashes.”

I turned on my heel and walked out of the room, leaving her screaming my name.

My watch read 9:00 p.m.; I had exactly three hours to stop that helicopter.
