Chapter 3 - The Betrayal

I strapped Lily into her car seat, my hands shaking so violently I could barely buckle the harness.
I sped away from the house with the blue door, constantly checking my rearview mirror to see if anyone was following us.
My phone started ringing relentlessly.
The caller ID flashed Sarah's name.
I answered it and put it on speaker, my voice trembling with a mixture of rage and profound heartbreak.
"David, my mother just called me and told me you ruined the photoshoot," Sarah screamed through the phone.
"A photoshoot?" I yelled back. "They were dressing our seven-year-old daughter up like a doll for sick strangers, Sarah!"
There was a long, terrifying silence on the other end of the line.
"It pays for our mortgage, David," she finally whispered, her voice devoid of any maternal instinct.
"It's just a private modeling agency, you're overreacting."
I slammed my fist against the steering wheel, realizing the woman I married was a complete stranger.
She had sold our daughter's innocence to maintain her lavish lifestyle.
"I am taking Lily, and you will never see us again," I stated clearly.
"If you try to run, my mother's clients will find you," Sarah threatened, her tone turning venomous.
"They are very powerful men, David, you have no idea what you just walked into."
I hung up the phone and tossed it out the car window.

I couldn't risk them tracking my GPS location.
We were completely on our own now.
