Chapter 11 - The Face-to-Face

The elevator doors slid open to the ground floor lobby.

The place looked like a war zone.

Marble pillars were chipped by bullets, and the reception desk was completely destroyed.

Roman stepped out slowly, his gun leveled.

The shooting had miraculously stopped.

In the center of the ruined lobby stood Dimitri Volkov.

He was a massive man with a thick beard and a smug smile.

He was surrounded by ten heavily armed guards.

"Roman!" Dimitri boomed, his thick accent echoing in the cavernous space.

"I heard you were giving blood."

"How charitable of you."

Roman walked forward until he was only twenty feet away.

"You made a mistake coming here, Dimitri," Roman said calmly.

"Did I?" Dimitri laughed.

"Your men are pinned, your empire is bleeding, and I hear you have a new baby upstairs."

"Such a shame."

"Babies are so fragile."

Roman’s eyes went completely black with rage.

"If you even think about my son, I will flay you alive," Roman promised.

"Big words for a man staring down ten barrels," Dimitri sneered.

"Kill him," he ordered his men.

But before anyone could pull a trigger, the glass windows of the lobby exploded inward.

A convoy of black SUVs smashed through the hospital entrance, ignoring the snow.

Roman’s reinforcements had arrived.

Dozens of Roman’s elite killers poured out of the vehicles, instantly outnumbering Volkov’s men.

The smug smile vanished from Dimitri’s face.

"You were saying?" Roman asked softly.

Dimitri raised his hands slowly.

"We can negotiate," the Russian stammered.

"There is nothing to negotiate," Roman replied.

He raised his gun and shot Dimitri Volkov directly between the eyes.

The Russian boss collapsed to the floor.

"Clean this up," Roman ordered his men.
