Chapter 5 - The Financial Autopsy

The massive screen brightly displayed a complex, undeniable web of bank transfers originating directly from Hawthorne Capital's main reserve accounts.
Thick red lines connected the company's restricted funds directly to a heavily concealed shell corporation located in the Cayman Islands.
“Ladies and gentlemen of the board, my name is Emily Grant,” I began, standing up and projecting my voice with absolute clarity.
“For the past twenty-four months, I have been conducting a highly classified, covert audit at the direct request of your chairman.”
Margaret scoffed loudly, dramatically crossing her arms in a pathetic display of fake defiance.
“This is an entirely fabricated, ridiculous witch hunt designed by a jealous, low-class girl who wants my daughter's job,” Margaret declared to the room.
I clicked a button on my remote, and Victoria's personal, digitized signature appeared massively next to the fraudulent wire transfers.
“This is Victoria's direct authorization on a twelve-million-dollar cash transfer for a commercial real estate project that literally does not exist,” I stated firmly.
The board members gasped collectively, whispering frantically and fearfully among themselves.
I clicked the remote again, displaying high-definition photographs of Victoria's newly purchased luxury private yacht.
“This vessel is legally registered under the exact same fake company name used to drain the firm's retirement fund.”
“These corporate funds were blatantly used to purchase personal luxury assets, entirely hidden from you, the shareholders.”
Victoria leaped desperately from her leather chair, her face heavily flushed with absolute, undeniable panic.
“Those financial documents are entirely forged by her!” Victoria screamed wildly, pointing a shaking finger at my face.
I smiled coldly, tapping the final, most devastating slide of the entire presentation.
“The Federal Bureau of Investigation does not seem to think they are forged, Victoria,” I replied evenly.
“I formally submitted this entire evidentiary portfolio to the federal financial crimes division at exactly 6:00 AM this morning.”

The arrogant, haughty color completely vanished from Margaret Grant's aging face.
The boardroom instantly erupted into absolute, deafening chaos.
