Chapter 10 - The New Dynasty

Exactly one full year later, I stood proudly on the glass balcony of my massive new corner office.

The breathtaking Chicago skyline sparkled beautifully against the dark, inky night sky, perfectly reflecting our hard-won, absolute victory.

Caleb walked quietly into the room and wrapped his strong arms lovingly around my waist from behind, resting his chin gently on my shoulder.

“Are you ready to head home, Madam CEO?” he whispered affectionately, softly kissing the side of my neck.

Richard Hawthorne had officially retired just last week, highly recommending to the board that I immediately take over his supreme position.

I was no longer just the Chief Operating Officer; I was now the undisputed ruler of the entire Hawthorne empire.

Victoria was currently rotting miserably in a tiny concrete cell, completely forgotten by the wealthy society she had once terrorized.

Margaret remained hidden away in a small, damp apartment in London, entirely too ashamed to ever show her aging face in America again.

We had successfully survived the intense, deadly fire they had maliciously tried to burn us in.

And we had beautifully built our own massive, unbreakable empire directly from their ruined ashes.

I looked down at the busy, glowing city streets far below, feeling the immense, satisfying weight of the entire incredible journey.

I had finally learned that genuine, terrifying power does not come from screaming loudly or violently slapping people in public lobbies.

True, undeniable power is always quiet, incredibly patient, and strikes with devastating force only when the evidence is absolute.
