Chapter 9 - The Cornered Rat

Silas realized his entire, carefully constructed empire was crumbling in real-time.

His eyes darted frantically around the room, looking for any possible avenue of escape.

In a desperate, cowardly panic, he lunged off the stage toward the front row.

He grabbed Eleanor, his own financial backer, pulling a hidden silver pistol from his jacket.

"Nobody move a single muscle!" Silas screamed, pressing the barrel against Eleanor's trembling head.

Eleanor shrieked in pure, unadulterated terror, realizing the monster she had blindly supported.

"I will kill her, and I will kill anyone who tries to stop me!" Silas roared at the FBI agents.

The federal agents raised their weapons, but they couldn't get a clear, safe shot in the crowded room.

Elena stood absolutely still, her eyes locked onto the pathetic, desperate man.

She didn't feel fear anymore; she only felt an overwhelming, powerful sense of justice.

Suddenly, Beatrice stepped out from the crowd, holding her massive shotgun.

"You took the only man I ever loved, Silas!" Beatrice yelled with heartbreaking fury.

Before Silas could react, Beatrice fired a warning shot directly into the ceiling tiles.

The deafening blast shocked Silas, causing him to flinch and momentarily drop his guard.

Eleanor used the distraction to viciously bite Silas's arm and throw herself to the floor.

The FBI agents swarmed the stage instantly, tackling Silas and wrestling the weapon from his hands.
