Chapter 6 - The Unraveling Lie

Clara gasped violently, clutching her head as the torrential rain washed over them both.

She remembered the sunlit garden, the diamond ring, the beautiful wedding dress she had worn.

She remembered the agonizing pain of childbirth, holding two perfect, tiny girls against her chest.

And then, she remembered the fiery crash, the smell of gasoline, and Vanessa’s cold, cruel face looking down at her trapped body.

"Arthur," she sobbed, the name tumbling from her lips not as an employee, but as a wife.

"It is me, Arthur, it is really me!"

Arthur let out a raw, broken sound, pressing his lips desperately against her scarred forehead.

"I know, my love, I know," he wept, rocking her back and forth in the middle of the street.

"I am so sorry I did not recognize you, I am so sorry I let her take your place."

He helped her to her feet, shielding her from the rain as he guided her to his damaged but functioning car.

The driver of the black SUV had already fled the scene on foot, but Arthur did not care about the pawn.

He was going straight for the wicked queen who had orchestrated this entire nightmare.

They drove back to the mansion in a heavy, charged silence, their hands tightly intertwined over the center console.

Every time Arthur looked at her, he saw past the surgical scars and recognized the brilliant, beautiful soul of his true wife.

When they arrived at the estate, Arthur did not bother with the front door; he kicked it open with terrifying force.

The loud crash echoed through the grand foyer, immediately drawing the attention of the household staff.

Vanessa appeared at the top of the grand marble staircase, holding a glass of champagne.

When she saw Arthur holding Clara's hand, the smug smile completely vanished from her face.

"Arthur, what is the meaning of this?" Vanessa demanded, her voice shrill with rising panic.

"Why are you holding hands with the filthy help?"

Arthur released Isabella's hand gently and began walking slowly up the stairs, his eyes burning with lethal intent.

"The game is over, Vanessa," Arthur stated, his voice echoing like thunder in the cavernous hall.

"I know exactly who she is, and I know exactly what you did three years ago."

Vanessa took a step backward, her hand shaking so badly she spilled champagne on the expensive carpet.

"You are insane, Arthur, she is just a scarred nobody!" Vanessa screamed, looking around wildly for her bodyguard.

"She is my wife, and she is the mother of my children," Arthur roared, pointing a furious finger at the fake woman.

"You sabotaged her car, you left her to burn, and you forged the dental records to fake her death!"

The household staff gasped in absolute horror, whispering frantically as the terrifying truth was exposed.

Vanessa realized that all her money and lies could no longer protect her from the wrath of a broken man.

She dropped her glass, turned on her heels, and sprinted down the hallway toward the children's nursery.
