Chapter 4 - The DNA Dilemma

Arthur caught Clara in his arms, her fragile body completely limp against his chest.
He carried her to the small bed, his mind racing with impossible, terrifying theories.
She had fainted the exact moment he touched her, almost as if his touch had triggered a short circuit in her brain.
He looked down at her sleeping face, tracing the surgical scars that altered her jawline and cheekbones.
If a woman had been in a fiery car crash, extensive reconstructive surgery would completely change her appearance.
Arthur’s heart pounded like a war drum as he noticed a small, crescent-shaped birthmark behind her left ear.
It was the exact same birthmark Isabella had.
Arthur felt the room spinning, his logical mind battling fiercely against the screaming hope in his heart.
He needed undeniable proof, something that Vanessa's lies and a doctor's scalpel could never change.
Arthur gently reached out and plucked three strands of hair from Clara's pillow.
He carefully placed the hairs into a small plastic evidence bag he had brought from his study.
Before leaving the room, he pulled the blanket up to Clara's chin, lingering for a moment to watch her breathe.
The next morning, Arthur bypassed his corporate office and drove straight to a private, highly secure genetics laboratory.
He handed the bag of Clara's hair, along with a hairbrush belonging to the twins, to the lead technician.
"I need a rush on this maternity test," Arthur ordered, slamming a thick stack of hundred-dollar bills onto the counter.
"I want the results sent directly to my personal encrypted phone, and absolutely no one else is to know about this."
The technician nodded eagerly, rushing off to the back room to begin the extraction process.
Meanwhile, back at the mansion, Vanessa was putting her own sinister plan into motion.
She knew Arthur was growing suspicious, and she could see the way he looked at the new maid.
Vanessa cornered her personal bodyguard, a ruthless man named Marcus, in the underground garage.
"That maid is a massive problem, Marcus," Vanessa hissed, handing him a thick envelope of cash.
"I want her gone permanently, before Arthur uncovers the truth about what happened three years ago."
Marcus smirked, slipping the envelope into his dark leather jacket.
"Consider it done, Mrs. Sterling," he replied coldly.
"She will have a tragic little accident on her way home from the grocery store today."
Vanessa smiled, a cold, empty expression that held absolutely no remorse.
She had stolen Isabella's life once, and she was more than willing to kill to keep it.

She walked back upstairs, completely unaware that Arthur was already unraveling her web of lies.
The clock was ticking, and the explosive truth was only hours away from shattering their world.
