Chapter 6 - The Mother's Resolve

The heavy steel door of the bunker finally groaned open.

Dante stepped inside, covered in soot, rain, and the blood of his enemies.

Camila rushed forward, throwing her arms around his neck.

It was the first time she had embraced him in over a year.

Dante dropped his weapon and held his wife tightly, burying his face in her shoulder.

"They are gone," Dante murmured into her hair.

"It's over."

Elena quietly packed her medical bag, giving the family a moment of privacy.

But Camila pulled back and looked at Dante with fierce, tear-filled eyes.

"We cannot live like this, Dante."

"I refuse to raise Leo in a world where we have to hide in underground bunkers while assassins tear up his nursery."

Dante’s expression hardened with a mixture of shame and determination.

"I know."

"I am going to dismantle the entire network."

Camila shook her head, her voice gaining an unexpected strength.

"No, Dante."

"You are going to dismantle the criminal enterprise completely."

"We are taking this empire legitimate, or I am taking Leo and walking away forever."

Dante stared at the woman he had married for duty, suddenly realizing she possessed the heart of a lioness.

She was no longer the fragile, sleep-deprived victim he had seen weeks ago.

She was a mother willing to burn down the mafia to save her son.

Dante looked at Leo, who was sleeping peacefully in Elena’s arms.

"Okay," Dante agreed, his voice resolute.

"I will wash the blood from the Rossi name."

"Whatever it takes."

Elena smiled softly, knowing that she had not only saved a baby’s life, but she had altered the destiny of an entire dynasty.

"I should get back to the clinic," Elena whispered, stepping toward the door.

Dante reached out and stopped her.

"The clinic is underfunded, and the equipment is outdated."

"I just bought the county hospital."

Elena’s jaw dropped in absolute shock.

"You are going to be the head of a brand-new pediatric wing, fully funded by the Rossi Foundation," Dante announced.

"It is entirely legitimate."

"And it is non-negotiable."
